Brim is a governed school-community platform — not a messaging app with school features bolted on. A system where governance, audit and safety are first-class, built for any school and owned by no single one.
Why we built it
Schools run on WhatsApp groups, paper notices and memory.
A missed health alert. A parent–teacher message lost in a chat of two hundred. A grade released to the wrong audience. Every communication breakdown happens against a trust that took decades to build.
Brim replaces that patchwork with a single, governed, purpose-built platform. Term mode and holiday mode. Supervised parent–student calls. Role-based silos. A system that fails safely and audits cleanly — because children are on it.

What it’s built on
Three convictions, not features.
Governance is a first-class primitive
Who-can-message-whom, term versus holiday mode, escalation timers — these live in a central policy engine every request consults before it proceeds. Bolt governance on top and it leaks; build the system around it and it holds.
The audit trail is the product
Every governed event — a broadcast, a message, a call, a grade, a health visit — writes to an append-only, hash-chained log. Not a compliance checkbox: it’s what lets a school say “we handled this correctly” and have the record to prove it.
One person, one account
A teacher at two schools, a parent whose children attend different schools, an owner of several — all one Brim identity. A person is a platform citizen first and a tenant member second, never a row duplicated per school.

First in Africa. Never 80%.
We hold a simple bar: build the thing that should exist, properly — coherent end-to-end, genuinely practical, and designed with care down to the last detail. Made in Uganda, for the way schools here actually run, and good enough that we’d trust it with our own children’s records.
