Create your school on Brim
When you start a pilot, the Brim team provisions your school and creates the first owner account — usually the head teacher or the director. Everything else flows from there.
The first sign-in
You sign in with your phone number. Brim sends a one-time code by SMS; there is no password to remember or lose. Your phone number is your identity across every Brim app, so the same number works on the desktop console and the mobile app.
The first five things to set up
- Your terms — the three terms of the Ugandan school year, with their start and end dates.
- Your classes — from the lowest to the highest, named the way your school names them (S1, P7, and so on).
- Staff — invite your teachers and office staff by phone number; each gets the right role.
- Students — import them from a spreadsheet (see Import students and staff).
- Grading scales — Brim ships the UNEB scales; confirm the one your school uses.
You don't have to do this alone. A pilot includes hands-on setup with the Brim team, including importing your existing data for you.
Who can do what
Brim uses roles, not one shared login. The bursar sees finance, the nurse sees the health centre, a class teacher sees their class. You decide who holds which role, and you can change it at any time. Sensitive areas (money, health, safeguarding) are always role-gated.
