Is our data secure? Does it work offline or by SMS?
Your data is yours
Each school's data is isolated — one school can never see another's. Sensitive areas (money, health, safeguarding) are gated to specific roles, and the most sensitive parent–child messages are end-to-end encrypted, meaning not even Brim can read them. Phone numbers are stored encrypted.
Connectivity
Brim is built for real Ugandan connectivity, not a perfect office line:
- The apps tolerate a weak or intermittent connection and catch up when the signal returns.
- Important notices reach parents by SMS, so a parent without a smartphone or data still hears from the school.
- Key parent actions are reachable over USSD where the app isn't an option.
Who can see what
Brim keeps an audit trail of sensitive actions, so there's always a record of who did what. Access follows the person's role and changes the moment their role does.
